The little thing in that show was probably mistaken for a Volvo Valp.

australian amphibious haflinger.I own one of the three made. The other I have seen is at the Bandiana Army museum.I donot have the floats but they were made of plywood and were carried on top of the vehicle when not in use. The floats were lowered into the water by a hydraulic system run of the power take off on the gearbox, This may be why Aus army hafs are all fitted with a pto. The control and hydaulic pipes are crude and were for trials only. A factory souce told me that water propulsion was by the rotating tyres not propeller

I have an ex Aus Army Haflinger. It was not fitted with floatation. I have seen another (1 of 5 I think) that had fixings in the pan and cutouts in the side gates for the pontoons

I've heard of the Australian army having a prototype with pontoons, but no evidence of it just yet.

Also, thanks for a link to REMLR. that link is wrong now as it is now .php not .html. Another page of info should appear there when I get a chance.

I originally went to have a look at the australian army haf that was on ebay, it was totally rusty and the guy wanted a fortune for it, but the guy who owned it claimed that it had a propellor and flotation tanks that came with it, but.. he couldnt show them to me for some unknown reason, maybe they didnt exist...
Have you any knowlege of the australian army fitting flotation pontoons on the side with a pto driven propellor??

you should get a contact for a guy named Les Hiddens, through the Australian Army. He used one for an australian T.V. series called Bush Tucker Man.
