MacKay
It appears that some Haflingers were imported to Canada in 1964 by a company named MacKay, which was located in Vancouver. The first Haflinger had possibly arrived in Canada one year earlier, in 1963, but
it is unsure who had been the importer. Two Haflingers which were certainly imported and sold by MacKay are shown below. Note that these are not yet "bug-eye" versions, but rather
normal civilian models, similar to the ones sold in Austria.
Es scheint, dass 1964 einige Haflinger von einer Firma Namens MacKay, die in Vancouver ansässig war, nach Kanada importiert wurden. Der allererste Haflinger kam wahrscheinlich schon 1963 nach Kanada,
aber wer der Importeur war ist unklar. Zwei Haflinger, die zweifelsfrei von MacKay importiert und verkauft wurden sind in Folge abgebildet. Man beachte, dass es sich dabei noch nicht um Versionen mit "Froschaugen"
handelt, sondern um normale Haflinger, ähnlich der in Österreich verkauften Varianten.

Vanguard Steel Ltd.

In these pictures, the former head office of Vanguard Steel Ltd. and its sister company Ringball Bearings Ltd. can be seen. It was located at 245 Dalesford Road in Toronto, but
has since been demolished. The site is now occupied with residential buildings. Thanks Gary Scheichl for the photo.

Steve's father was a Haflinger dealer in Nova Scotia during the 60s and early 70s and his business partner owned the vehicle shown in these two pictures.

Finally one picture to show that there were also Polycab versions exported to Canada. Thanks Stephen Hill for the photo of this Series 2 short wheelbase Haflinger. However it must be said that the Polycab originally
came off a long wheelbase Kommunalhaflinger, which has sadly not survived.
Abschließend ein Bild, das einen Haflinger mit Polyesterhaus zeigt - auch solche wurden nach Kanada exportiert. Jedoch ist hier zu sagen, dass das Polyesterhaus ursprünglich auf einem Kanadischen

I now have 3 canadian hafi’s they are rough but i hope to fix 1 up and possibly 2! I and they are located in Squamish BC

In About 1966, Haflingers were being sold in my home town of Powell River,BC Canada. The dealer was Black Point Motors. The owner was Ernie Holly. I was 15, and got the privlage of test driving one of the units. It was a truly impressive experiance! In 1994 I acuired 2 units in poor shape. One is just the mechanics, the other whole but severly rusted. Both came with parts/ repair manuals. It is great to see a web site dedicated to this unusual vehicle.

Hello Tony, Thank`s for create this site. I am from Quebec (Canada) and a proud owner of an haflinger. I was looking for a soft top for my machine and fall on your site. I look at picture and appreciate it. I will try to come back with some picture wich i think you will like.
